RIVERWORKS LATIN NIGHTS

RiverWorks presents Latin Nights with Calvin & Fanny. Bring your salsa shoes, and learn from and dance with two of Buffalo’s premier Latin Dancers. Learn classic & contemporary Latin dances like, the Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Cumbia, Mambo, & Plena.

Admission is FREE, and lessons run from 7pm to 8pm, then open dancing from 8pm to 11pm every Thursday night in August.

Calvin and Fanny have been dancing and teaching salsa together since 2008. They frequently attend salsa congresses and festivals where they participate in workshops and share the dance floor with some of the biggest names in the world of salsa.

They have worked with five-time World Salsa Champion Oliver Pineda of Australia, Salsa On2 pioneer Eddie Torres of New York, Griselle Ponce of New Jersey, The Cobo Brothers of North Carolina, World Champions Karen Forcano and Ricardo Vega of Chile and many more.

FANNY OLAYA was born and raised in Lima, Peru where she grew up listening and dancing to the sounds of salsa, merengue, cumbia, cha cha cha, Afro-Peruvian and other latin styles. These sounds were a part of Fanny’s everyday life from a very early age and have created in her an undying passion for music and dance.

CALVIN RICE was born in Buffalo, NY and holds a Bachelors degree in music performance and education from Ithaca College. He is an active musician, dancer and teacher who loves to share his knowledge and talent with others.

Music by DJ V3rdGo on the ones and twos, one of Western New York / Buffalo, NY’s hottest mix DJ’s with over 70 mixes on mixcloud. Genres include Hip-Hop/Trap, Reggaeton, R&B/Top 40, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Kizomba and EDM! DJ V3rdGo will be spinning from 7pm – 11pm bringing you all the Latin grooves to keep it spicy!
